Trading A Concert

for A Date

"Nick! Why can't we go to the concert tomorrow night?"

"Dude! You have school the next morning and the concerts almost two hours away!"

I was getting pissed. "When has that been a factor before?" He stopped for a moment, than continued to fix dinner.
Later that night, just before retiring, I called a few people to see if they would like to go. Cait said she was going, but her friend was driving her up. Bethany said that she would love a ride up, but was spending the night just down the street, and didn't need a ride home. I told her that I'd pick her up at about four-ish and she said ok. I went to bed not telling Nick that I was going to the Kurios concert the next day.

When I woke up, at noon might I add, Nick was up playing his games that he plays. I took a shower, and got dressed. "Where are you going?" Nick asked me as I started for the door. "I told you! I'm going to a concert!" I said back to him. There was a silence between us for a second or two, and as I continued to the door, Nick mumbled under his breath. "Whatever." I acted like I didn't hear him and slammed the door.
It only took an hour to pick Bethany up, since she was at a friend's house in Elmer. We then drove back up 95, then onto 276 before Bethany or I had started any real conversation. "Where's your Kurios CD's?" she finally asked me. "Between the seats and behind the arm rest." I paused. "Where they usually are." "Shut up!" immediately came from her mouth. My slight smile quickly went back to my straight face. "Are you ok, Justin?" she asked seeing this. "I'll be alright." "That's not what I asked! Are you alright now?" "Well." I paused, and then started again. "I was talking to a friend of mine that I kinda like and she said she wasn't going to be able to come. And I was planning on not really sticking around for the concert, if you know what I'm getting at." "Yea. You were going to take her out, and not come back 'til she was one hundred percent having your baby!" I cracked a little smile as I looked at my sister, and then put my eyes back on the road as she laughed. "Shut up and help me look for 676 north!" "It's the next exit, Justin." "I'm glad someone reads those damn road signs!" Beth just giggled.

It only took us a little bit more then two and a half hours to get to the concert. It was an almost three hours and fifteen minute drive from Elmer, where Bethany was. When we got there, Jai, Jeremy, and Chad were outside by the van. "We walked up to them and asked what was going on. "We're waiting for Liam, he's not here yet!" Jai said. "And he's not answering his phone, either." Jeremy added. "Well, he better be here quick! The concert starts in a half hour!" I stated. "Well." Bethany started. "Is everything set up inside?" "Yea. They have their own stuff, all we did was tie in our own microphones!" "But no use for a mic if there's no lead singer!" Jeremy added again. "True! True!" I said.
Bethany and I went inside to see if anyone we knew had come to the show. The house was PACKED! I mean, it was only a little coffee shop, but there was very little room to move in there. I went up to the "stage" (and I say "stage" cause it was a rug on the floor in the right front of the room) to see if there was anyone I knew up there. Not a single person. So Beth and I stuck together and tried to make it back outside to the Kurios van. We walked to the door, and Cait and her friend were making their way to the door, also. I let them out first, then followed them out. By the time we got out, it was about ten of six, and Liam had just shown up.
"Where have ya been, dude?" I asked walking through the front door. "I got stuck because of an accident. Lets get in there and play!" "I hope you guys have a back way in, cause y'all ain't gonna get in there through the front door! It be packed in there!" I said. "That's awesome!" Jai blurted out! The five of them walked in through the back door, and Bethany, Cait, her friend, and I through the front, so we could tell this guy named, um, Guy, that the band was in the back and ready to play. He took one seep to his left to get on the "stage" and introduced Kurios, and they came out. "When All is Said and Done" was the first song they played. And it was awesometastic! I felt out of place, since, besides Liam and our little group, no one was singing.
About ninety-nine percent of the way through the third song, which was "Father Abraham" may I add, I thought I saw someone (It was during the "turn around, sit down" part). After getting up, I realized it wasn't who I thought it was. Another song started, and I sang and danced along.
It wasn't even ten or twenty seconds later, and I pulled my sisters arm to get her attention. She looked at me as to say "what?" "You have seen pictures of the girl I was telling you about, right?" She just shook her head. "She standing directly in front of Jai?" Bethany looked for a few seconds, then looked back at me. "I'm pretty sure." I shook my head as I looked to my right.
I kind of made my way to the right where she was standing, in the middle of a song, may I add. From behind, I put my head up to the left of hers. "Hey, Michele!" She jumped around. "Oh my gosh!" She looked to see who I was. "You scared me, Justin!" I was already laughing. "What are you doing here, Girl?" "Listening to Kurios!" (I kinda walked straight into that one!) Just then, I looked up to Jai, and he made a motion between me and Michele, then crossed his fingers. Michele didn't notice, as she was talking to Bethany. I just mouthed "not yet" in Jai's direction. At this time, Liam was asking Jai of he was ready. They started the next song and I took Michele by the hand, and the three of us started to the back.
We came outside and I moved my hand under Michele's hand, almost holding her wrist. "Michele, I'd like to ask you a question, but I don't know if you'll say 'yes', but..." "Just ask me. My answer can't hut you too much!" she interrupted. I looked at Bethany, then back into Michele's eyes. "Well, I'd like to know if you'll go out on a date with me right this very second?" There was a pause between the two of us. "Yes. Let me go tell my ride that your bringing my home?" "Ok." When she came back, we got in my truck and drove off.
"Where are we going, Cowboy?" "Where ever your little heart desires." I said to her as I looked into her eyes and smiled. "I know just the place!" She showed me to a little diner just down the street from where the concert was. When we got there, we were seated by a blonde, older lady, I'd say in her upper thirties.
"My name is Nicole and I'll be your waitress. What can I get you to drink?" the waitress said looking at Michele first. "I'll have a Pepsi." "Ok," she said wile writing and turning to me at the same time. She continued after finishing what she was writing. "and for you, Sir?" "I'll take a sweet tea." "Ok." Nicole said again. "I'll be right back with those."
Michele excused herself and went to the ladies room. Nicole came back and placed my drink on my coaster, but paused before placing the Pepsi on the table. "Did she leave?" she asked me. "Only to the ladies room." "Oh. Ok." She placed the soda on the table. As the waitress walked away, Michele came back. In a straight face, she said to me "Were you just hitting on a thirty-something year old waitress?" Then she smiled. "Yea! Take that!" She added. I just laughed as she sipped her soda.
About a minute later, Nicole came back to take our orders. Michele and I ordered, and then went back to our conversation. "So." I started again. "Didn't you say you weren't going to the concert that we just ditched?" She chuckled and said, "Yea. I was supposed to be at a family party, but I told my mom I was going out with some friends tonight." "Nice!" "Yea. It was pretty good that I lied to my mom to go to a concert that I'm not even at!" "You didn't 'lie', fore say... Your out with a friend." "True." was the only thing that she could pull out. "So you didn't really lie to her!" We both laughed.

After dinner, we decided that it was way too early to bring her home. We also decided to drive around for a wile to pass the time. After driving for about five minutes, I pulled off the road beside a little creek. "Where are we going?" she asked quickly. "Relax." I told her. "Where there is creek, there is lake!"
As I drove across the little creek, a path emerged on the left side. I turned down the hill and splashed into a side stream. "This is fun!" she said laughing wile we splashed and crashed into puddle after stream, after puddle. We finally came around a corner into a clearing in the area, the most beautiful scene came upon my eyes. "Whoever found this spot is pure genius in my book!" she said. "Yea." I said kinda responding to the comment. Both of us were amazed at the light show that the city was putting off across the water.
I parked facing away from the water, and jumped out and ran across the front of the truck. I opened the door and pulled Michele out into my arms. "What are you doing with me?" she asked laughing. I lifted her up into the bed of my truck, moved to the back, dropped the tailgate, and made my way into the bed. I sat in the back corner and pulled her close.
"Michele." I said through the few moments of silence. "Yes, Justin." "I think we should do this more often." "Yea." A few moments went by before I lifted her up and looked deeply into her eyes. "Can I ask you a question, Babe?" "Sure." "Will you be my girl?" "Justin, I'm already your girl!" We smiled at each other and laid back against the cab of my truck. "Justin, I love you." "Michele, I love you." We looked at each other and knew that there would never be a better time then now.

When I got her home, I walked her to the door. "Goodnight, Michele." I said after giving her a sweet kiss on the lips. "Goodnight, Justin." She started to turn to the door, but turned back and gave me a big kiss before walking into her house.
